Girls’ Club/Teen Club

The first philanthropic program adopted by the chapter was Girls’ Club in 1954. Since 1960 when the chapter acquired the house at 913 East Santa Clara Street, Ventura, the Girls’ Club has had permanent headquarters. In 1968, a Teen Club was added to the program.

At the Sewing Machine

The girls are supervised by paid staff, aided by Assistance League members. A wholesome program is offered with emphasis on home- making, creative arts and recreational activities five afternoons a week during the school year. The programs are designed to develop creative and academic achievement, and self-respect and to provide enrichment. An all day summer camp is offered mid June to mid August. Enrollment in the Girls’ Club is approximately 80 and Teen Club is approximately 28. A nominal quarterly fee, donations, grants and chapter fundraising activities support the program. Full or partial scholarships are available.
